Description
RxSight LAL
“The First and Only Lens That Can Be
Customized AFTER Cataract Surgery”
The RxSight Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is a posterior chamber, ultraviolet (UV) absorbing, three-piece, foldable, photoreactive silicone intraocular lens with a squared posterior optic edge intended to be implanted in the capsular bag following phacoemulsification. Selective exposure of the implanted RxSight LAL using the Light Delivery Device (LDD) to deliver spatially profiled UV light produces modifications in the lens curvature resulting in a spherical or spherocylindrical power change post-operatively. A subsequent lock-in exposure is delivered to the implanted LAL to stabilize the lens power. The LDD delivers targeted UV light to shape the LAL and offer precise adjustment and vision for each patient. Surgeons can adjust the lens over a series of treatments to ensure each patient achieves vision that matches their goals and expectations.
Features:
How It Works
The Light Adjustable Lens is made from a special photosensitive material that gently changes shape when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. After your eye has healed from surgery, your doctor uses a novel Light Delivery Device (LDD) to precisely adjust your lens based on your desired visual outcome. Each treatment takes only a few minutes, using UV light to reshape the lens and fine-tune your prescription to your desired visual outcome.
How the Light Adjustable Lens Works
- Unmatched precision and customization: Unlike traditional, fixed-power intraocular lenses (IOLs), the LAL can be adjusted to correct for residual refractive errors and astigmatism after surgery, leading to a more accurate final prescription.
- Greater patient satisfaction: The collaborative adjustment process gives patients more control over their visual outcome, which is directly linked to higher satisfaction rates.
- Superior visual acuity: Studies have shown that patients who receive the LAL are significantly more likely to achieve 20/20 vision or better without glasses compared to those with a standard IOL.
- Accounts for post-surgery healing: The system is designed to correct for minor shifts in the lens’s position that occur during the healing process, which is a major factor in refractive errors after standard cataract surgery.
- Reduced need for additional surgeries: The ability to non-invasively fine-tune the lens minimizes the risk that the initial lens power is incorrect, which could require further surgical interventions.
